Dear Members of the University Community,

We have pledged to keep you as informed as possible in the midst of a dynamic situation relative to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

On Friday evening, both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Department of State elevated travel warnings and advisories for Italy to a Level 3. The same advisories also have been issued for Iran. This move follows recent heightened travel warnings and advisories for both China and South Korea.

Effective immediately, we will not sponsor University travel by students, faculty and staff to Italy and Iran, consistent with our decisions for China and South Korea. If and when other countries are designated with a heightened travel advisory, the University will cancel sponsored travel to those areas as well.

We will maintain an updated list of those countries at this site: https://www.uky.edu/coronavirus. We also will maintain a list of resources and Frequently Asked Questions about this issue.

We will now be working with the UK students currently in Italy on Education Abroad programs regarding their return to the United States. We know of no members of the University community who are in Iran at this time. We continue to evaluate the effects that this situation may have on our summer Education Abroad programs.

As Spring Break approaches, we encourage members of the UK community, who have plans to travel internationally, to review the CDC and Department of State guidance for their destinations.

We will keep you informed as this issue continues to evolve and as we respond in ways that ensure the health, safety and well-being of our community. Our thoughts are with our partners and colleagues around the world who are being affected by this unprecedented situation.
